Lawrence, I checked amazon and couldn't find anything indicating it was either a paperback or hardcover. The price, however, says hardcover.
HJF, this is the book I finished at the end of March. I'm already told they're wanting a sequel.
What I think they're looking for in this title is a cover that looks like the cover of a bestselling thriller--- a sort of Robert Crais/Michael Connelly sort of vibe.
Which is okay with me, as they outsell me a hundred to one probably.
Unless Orbit ponies up a big kickback, though, it will be in the SF section. Because Orbit publishes SF, as we know.
I'm an author, game designer, black belt, and scuba guy. This is a journal of my confrontations with existence, the life of the writer, and the occasional wicked adverb. There also seems to be a lot about food. Bon appetit.

I think there should be a hardcover too, but as of now, Amazon is insisting there's only soft.
Looks good!
Well, I kind of miss the hunky-guy motif, as featured on the Voice of the Whirlwind and Implied Spaces covers, but I daresay I'll survive.
Seriously, it's very ominous. In the good way.
Wha? New book? When the hell did THIS happen?
Great!!!
I actually preferred their original design for this cover, which was yellow with a trickle of red blood in it.
Not only was it eye-catching, but also it was the New Mexico state colors!

This will sell better than that one; by March, no one will want to buy fiction with a trickle of blood on the cover.
It looks Serious.
Looks like a great cover. Can't wait to read it (the book not the cover). Will your next game be titled, "This is not a book?"
This is your first non space opera in quite some time. What section of the book store will it be sold in?

What's the book about?
To tell the truth, I find the cover intimidating... like I'm going to get chewed out about not taking something or other seriously enough.
Hopefully I'm an outlier that way.
Synova, My guess is that the book is about a game. My guess, it is some kind of internet social network game where people get killed.
My guess is that it is a book about a internet game where people get killed unless they escape on an inner tube.
Dang, Ralf. Try to preserve =some= mystery!
Sorry Walter. I did not tell them about the singing, electric guitar playing squirrel that is the avatar of the super computer running the not game.
