Flying Submarines!
From Dark Roasted, a splendid nostalgia-charged overview of attempts to build flying submarines.
Don Reid's Commander-2, pictured at the top, was actually operational.

For some reason, the article fails to mention Robur the Conqueror.

Hey, don't forget the Flying Sub from "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea"!
The Seaview (or, as we used to call her, the Leaking Lena) was a cool design, but the Flying Sub was always my favorite.

And of course, there was the SkyDiver/Sky One combination on the British UFO TV series. Which wasn't as cool as the Flying Sub from VTTBOTS but did have purple-haired girls in silver miniskirts which beats ol' Richard Basehart any day.
And hey! don't forget the Atragon, the wonderful flying-sub/warship from Toho studios.
And speaking of Japan, how about the Space Battleship Yamato which after its conversion to star drive more resembled a submarine than a battleship and went flying all over...
But wait. Maybe you were talking about real, actual, possible designs for flying subs.
Oh.
Don't know anything about that.
As long as we're mentioning the oeuvre of Gerry Anderson, let's not forget Supercar!
