Vladimir Putin and Russia's newly-elected President Medvedev go to a restaurant. The waiter comes up and says, "What will you have?"
"I'll have the steak," says Putin.
"And what about the vegetable?" says the waiter.
"He'll have the steak, too," says Putin.

I think my favorite Russian joke was...
Two Army generals, one Russian and one American, have met at an arms-negotiation summit, and they're bragging about whose army is better.
"Russia feeds its troops a thousand calories every day!" says the Russian.
"America feeds its troops three thousand calories a day!" says the American.
"Nonsense!" says the Russian. "Nobody can eat an entire sack of potatoes in twenty-four hours."
That's quite a cliche - in Poland we had the same joke with our government "celebrities": Jaroslaw Kaczynski, Roman Giertych and Andrew Lepper :)
Which just goes to show that really are no new jokes.
Back in the 80s we had a satirical puppet show on UK TV called 'Spitting Image'.
In one episode a latex Margaret Thatcher was depicted dining, in a restaurant, with her latex Cabinet.
A waiter asked Mrs T. what she would like to order ... and you know the rest. I wonder if this is where this particular joke originated?

Honestly it's not funny for me. Vladimir Putin was a good president. I wish Poland will have such a president in future. It's better to maintain line of power than give it to someone new and unpredictable. Russia is not America...
Putin may have done some good things, for Russia anyway, but I can't see how running the country through a puppet president could possibly be one of them.
When politicians begin to think they're indispensible, that's when it's time to dispense with them.
The best things that our first two American presidents did was leave when it was time to go. Thanks to this, no subsequent president has been able to say, "I'm more indispensible than Washington," because nobody ever was.
