Standing By

The Iranian revolution has entered a grim and secret phase. Grim, because the news is of mass arrests, protests being smashed, demonstrators beaten. Secret, because the situation may be resolved--- or not--- by maneuvers within the Iranian power structure that are opaque to those of us in the West.

Still, the cries of "Allah o akbar" are louder than ever at night. Three weeks ago, Iranians still had residual faith in their regime. Now there is little to none. The regime can stay in power only through the continuous use of force.

The strategy now would be to co-opt the regime's security force.

Here's the video of "Stand By Me" recorded by Jon Bon Jovi and Iranian superstar Andy Madadian. The recording isn't for sale, it's a free gift to the Iranian people.

Keep on crying in the night, all.

Sooner or later, all revolutionary nations need to move into a post-revolutionary phase if they're to consolidate the changes wrought by the revolution.

Looks like the hard-liners among the Iranian revolutionaries have seen the writing on the wall -- and balked. (Which jeopardizes everything they fought for over the past thirty years, did they but realize it.)

The =real= hard-liners, the ones who think Ahmadinejad is a dangerous liberal, seem to have allied with the modernizers on this one.

It's hard to view this alliance as anything but tactical, and it will dissolve the instant the Supreme Leader goes down. Assuming of course that this happens.

Lets not say too many bad things about the Iranian leadership. I have learned many important things from them.

Michael Jackson was killed by the rioters.

Bernard Madoff and the Zionist Lucky Charms leprechaun were responsible for the riots in Iran.

Note: The Marshmallows in Lucky Charms are the spawn of Satanic Mushrooms.

Democracy needs to be tempered with wisdom. Yes, people need to be able to vote for whom they want. Some times people forget who they have been told they want. It is the responsibility of the state to change these peoples votes so they do not burn in Hell.

We should all look towards our wise brothers in Iran for leadership in all things.
