Istanbul

On April 1, one year ago today, I looked out the window of my hotel room and saw this.
My oh my.

That brings back memories, Walter!
When I visited Istanbul, a few years ago, I arrived there from the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria on a bus. I didn't stay in the centre, like you, but in a truly horrible place, by the Sea of Marmara, called Buyukcekmece (which, I was assured, translates as 'Large Chest of Drawers'!).
The bus ride from there to the city centre seemed to take an eternity (probably around an hour) but the sights, like Aya Sofia, were certainly worth it!

I just got back from Istanbul today. It was wonderful! My hotel was a little north of Taksim Square, so I got to see a little of non-tourist city, too. -- Sue Burke

The Turkey trip was a wonderful coincidence of space, time, and friends. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
