Available!
Implied Spaces is available at powells.com! And Pete Johannsen has already got his copy!
(I repeat this news for those who have not been following the Implied Spaces Watch.)
To quote William Mulholland on the completion of the Los Angeles Aquaduct:
"There it is! Take it!"

Now if they'd only make their way to the east coast!
Grabbed one, although with the slowness of free shipping, I won't get it until I am back from the Black Road convention.
Thanks for the heads up!
Wheee! I just checked my order status on Powellsbooks.com and it was shipped on Tuesday!

Stupid UPS. This the second time this week I've been fooled by them. I do not understand their practice of recycling tracking numbers. Here is the status of my copy. Notice how it is currently out for delivery, yet it was already delivered in December of 2006!!! It's not like they're running out of numbers since they have about 1x10^28 combinations. Grrr. At least it appears I'll get my copy today.
HUNTSVILLE, AL, US 06/26/2008 7:29 A.M. OUT FOR DELIVERY
NASHVILLE, TN, US 06/26/2008 3:38 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
LEXINGTON, KY, US 06/25/2008 9:58 P.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
SPRINGFIELD, MO, US 12/11/2006 4:42 P.M. DELIVERY
That strange UPS number glitch has happened to me before, when I've ordered stuff from amazon.
It was really strange to see that my package had already been delivered to Bellingham in October 2006
Apparently Night Shade mailed mine last week. If it comes today I'll post a photo with cleavage!
I'm sorry, did I offend you, WJW? I have been reading your stuff for about ten years, really admire it, so if my comment offended you I apologize. Thanks, Travis.
If Nightshade started mailing these last week, then my copy should show up here in the Canadian boonies sometime next week! Yay!
Travis, I did preface my remarks with the note that it was churlish of me to complain about the details in what was otherwise a great review. So no, I'm not offended, but when I start hearing a small chorus of folks murmuring something that isn't exactly true, I feel like I ought to offer a correction.
The thing is, people forget stuff. For a while there, =I= forgot that I'd written some of these stories, and then I remembered, and I said to myself, "Hey! Wait a minute!"
It's like when Howard Waldrop was talking to Lew Shiner about his novel about Napoleon III's space program, and he said something to the effect of, "If I write it now, people will say it's just another steampunk novel."
"But Howard," Lew said, "you =invented= steampunk."
"Oh," said Howard. "I forgot."
Chris, Night Shade supposedly started shipping three weeks ago, so you'd think it would be everywhere but Pitcairn's Island by now.
Ok, I just wondered why you removed my earlier comment. (Maybe I screwed it up and it didn't even post?) We know you were in the vanguard of cyberpunk, something that a lot of people only know from The Matrix. We read your stuff then and read it now. Keep it coming on, we're not going anywhere. Thanks, Travis.
Travis--- I haven't removed any comments in recent weeks, so I suspect yours didn't post for reasons best known only to Blogger.
And Amazon emailed a few days ago and asked whether I still wanted it, which presumably means they think they'll get it in soon (although their website says they still don't have any copies).
got mine on Friday! Stross' Saturn's Children and Egan's Incandescence also come out in July-
the is the Summer of Singularity Sci Fi!
Travis, I'm not sure I'd put myself in the "forefront" of cyberpunk.
More like "bemusedly wandering down a parallel road with many intersections."
So WJW, I was just rereading "A Plague Of Angels" and wondering, when do we see the Dirty Pair make a cameo in one of your books?
My copy (from Powell's) has just arrived.
Of course, I would have a big deadline today.
I just got my copy of Implied Spaces about 10 minutes ago. Unfortunately, it was the wrong Implied Spaces. On the positive side, my new interior decorating book tells me that I can make my house look bigger by putting in dark floors and painting the sealing a light color.
________
Disclaimer, that was a joke, I did not get an interior design book by mistake.
HJF, if Kei and Yuri ever appear in one of my books, it's because I'm tired of that world and want it destroyed.
Because, y'know, that's what they do.
Actual pre-ordered copy has arrived in the boonies of Canada!
(Apparently this takes about a week longer than to Pitcairn's Island. Canada Post is so awesome.)
