Miners' Ink

I'll be in Socorro this weekend, for New Mexico Tech's first-ever science fiction convention!

Also attending will be SM Stirling, Jane Lindskold, and David Lee Summers.

My guess is most people will be attending to see Nichelle Nichols, who will be signing autographs for twenty bucks a pop. (Dang! And up till now I've been giving mine away for free!)

Other things happening are tours of the Very Large Array and the Magdalena Ridge Observatory, both of which are, to put it mildly, very cool.

Sounds like a great con, Walter. Wish I lived in or near NM. Seeing the VLA and the MRO . . . sweet.

I will pay you $25 if you can get me the autograph of the chick that played 7 of 9. I have never been into collecting autographs. I do from time to time give my autograph to celebrities. Some laugh. Some freak out. I like the ones that freak out.

The one exception was the lead singer from Evanescence. A friend of a friend flew in from Canada. She wanted to see the concert. After the show, the girls wanted to get autographs so they went behind the venue and waited. After the girls got there shot, us guys decided to give her our autographs. The lead singer freaked and ran away. Security told us allot of guys had been doing rude things.

Messing with people's egos is one thing. Making some nice lady think you were planning to flash her is something else.
